History

Como Oil & Propane of Florida was founded in 1946 in Northern Minnesota by Myles Hall. He opened a shop with one truck, a handful of customers, and a dedication to serving the community. Myles expanded his operation to Fort Lauderdale in 1967, bringing his midwestern values to sunny South Florida.

As the company started growing, Myles moved the headquarters to Palm City, the current location for Martin County Petroleum. His son, Robert Hall, was always fascinated by the work his father did and spent many Saturdays at the office as a child. He started running the company in the 1980s. The business expanded yet again in 2005 when Robert opened the Vero Beach office.

Friday 9/22/23, we called Como to come and check a leak since I smelled propane gas at our house. We are currently in... the process of selling our house and at the time the Como maintenance man was there, we had a potential buyer on our property looking at our house. I specifically told the Como man that we had the house for sale and we were in the middle of a showing. The potential buyer then approached the maintenance guy after the showing and they proceeded to have a conversation in private that lasted quite a while. This potential buyer was very interested in our house and was ready to put in an offer, and changed her tune very quickly after her discreet conversation with the maintenance man. We are certain that they were discussing our PERSONAL business regarding our house and our propane tank, but were not 100% sure because they went off on their own and were talking privately. When my wife directly asked the maintenance man POINT BLANK if he was discussing our PERSONAL HOME BUSINESS with a complete stranger, he proceeded to flat out lie to my wife's face and say that he didn't tell her anything, and he knew her from outside of this experience and was just saying hello. Later, we got a call from the realtor saying that the buyer backed out BECAUSE OF THE INFORMATION HE WAS GIVING HER. He completely crossed his boundaries and shared our personal information with someone who has no right to our personal real estate information. Not only did he cross a moral line, but he cost us the sale of our house, considering before this conversation she was ready to put an offer on the table.On top of this, before this horrible experience, we have been a customer of over 20 years with Como. We are building a large home on our property and contacted Como several times making appointment's for a new propane setup at the new house. Multiple times did they not show up or reach out.Highly NOT recommend from a 20+ year customer.read more

Had a generator and tank installed by Como in Stuart. I cannot say enough good things about them. Alex and his crew... came to install the generator. They were courteous and hard working. Alex is a true leader. I believe there were a couple of fellas new to the industry. Alex would explain what they were going to do, how to do it, and why. Then he would have them do it while he watched so they could put that in to practice. Randy and his crew came to bury the tank and dig the trench. They also were excellent! The smell of gas caused concern there was a leak. Cuomo was able to send a Service Technician within a few hours, found... thre was a leak and quickly repaired it. He also took the time to test the entire System to confirm no additional leaks. His name was Marc Badley and was great. Chris ( from Como Gas and Generator) promptly sent Josh, to address a problem with my Generac generator. Josh, did an... outstanding job going through the whole system and teaching me about how to care for it and how often. (the company that installed it, was sub-par, and didn't tell me much about it. Also what little information they gave me turned out to be incorrect!Josh gave me a good education about timelines to maintain it and the timelines for replacing parts, battery, and doing routine maintenance. He thoroughly checked every detail (including electrical boxes and power readings) and exercised it to be sure it was running properly.In the end, he suggested I replace a pressure valve (which he said he'd order), and he installed a new battery. He thoroughly cleaned parts, connections, and even screws.The response from Chris (lead) in the generator dept) and Josh, was far superior to previous service people who skimmed over what I now know, to be important checks.Josh was knowledgeable, competent, accountable, and helpful teaching me more about it.I highly recommend Como Gas/Generator and my sincere thanks to Josh and Chris!read more
